THE LATE KINGSTON AREA PHOTOGRAPHER, BRIAN MANTROP

"The Inca docked at the Marine Museum wharf. Kingston, Ontario" c. 1982 by Brian Montrop

Printed prior to 1983 on Cibachrome Paper.
Framed by Stan Garrah, Custom Carpentry in Kingston

I ACQUIRED THIS STUNNING PHOTOGRAPH OF THE INCA BY BRIAN MANTROP FROM MY NEIGHBOUR STAN GARRAH THE CARPENTER AT CUSTOM CARPENTRY ON YORK STREET WHO WAS A PERSONAL FRIEND OF THE LATE PHOTOGRAPHER. BRIAN MANTROP WAS A POPULAR, WELL-KNOWN, AND WELL-RESPECTED PHOTOGRAPHER WHO PRINTED THIS IMAGE OF THE INCA IN A WAY THAT MAKES IT SEEM MORE LIKE A PAINTING. I'M VERY FOND OF THIS PIECE! HANDWRITTEN AT THE TOP:  "This image of Brian's was involved in a truck roll-over Dec/1983 on Perth Rd/  Salvaged by S Garrah.  Framed by Custom Carpentry.  S Garrah Dec/2022"

PRINTED: "I was born in Montreal in 1950.  My mother moved the family to Kingston, Ontario when I was three years old.  I attended the schools in Kingston and pursued a degree in Geology at Queen's University for two years.

In 1970 I began travelling outside of North America.  the exhilaration and raising of my consciousness that travelling the world gave me, became my prime motivation of expression through the camera.

The unselfish, positive interaction with people all over the world and natural beauty we live in gives me positive energy.  This energy is what I tray to capture in my work.

I print on non-fading cibachrome paper which will give you many years of enjoyment."

SIGNED BY THE ARTIST:  "Brian Mantrop - Photographic Artist McAndrew's Rd., R.R. #2, Westport, Ontario Canada K0G 1X0 Title The Inca docked at the Marine Museum wharf. Kingston, Ontario series no. 32/40 Signature Brian Mantrop."
